Karan heals Vivek’s wound
1 Apr 2008, 0000 hrs IST,TNN

After a heartbreak and a dizzying vortex of non-stardom, Vivek Oberoi is back in top gear, if Karan Johar’s next flick is anything to go by.

Post Shootout at Lokhandwala ’s success, Vivek Oberoi is back in the big league. He will be playing an important character in Karan Johar’s untitled next, to be directed by Rensil D’Souza.

Karan Johar, who is currently in Miami shooting for Dostana , confirmed, “Yes, I have signed Vivek for my next film. I was really impressed with his role in Shootout . It is an unusual love triangle between two guys and a girl. Saif, Vivek and Kareena will play the respective roles.”

He added, “The basic idea came from me but it was Rensil who developed it into a proper story. The film will go on the floors in October.”

Philadelphia:
Casts Vivek despite the actor's image, is confident he will deliver

Karan Johar has left for a five-day schedule to Philadelphia for his film staring Saif-Kareena and Vivek Oberoi. Directed by Rensil D'Silva, the project has Oberoi in what Karan calls an 'important role'.

Unperturbed by Vivek's reputation and his image in the industry, Karan says he has immense faith in the actor and is sure he will deliver.

He can do it!

On selecting Oberoi for the role, he says, "I have chosen Vivek because he suits the role. It's a good role and he fits the script's demands. I never cast actors based on their images or perceptions of the industry or the media. Vivek is a good actor and I am confident in his ability to deliver."

When asked if the actor's not-so-great run at the box-office affects him, he adds, "Not at all. However, I can say that Vivek will have to give 300 per cent. It's a role that does justice to him. I am sure he will take it seriously."

It's aesthetic

Recently, in an interview, Salman spoke about John's exposure in Dostana being a bit too much and not suited for family audiences. Reacting to Salman's comments, Karan says, "I don't want to say anything on this. Salman is a senior in the industry. However, I would like to add that John's look is very aesthetically done and the film has been accepted worldwide."

Will Karan blog from Philadelphia? "I don't know yet. For me, blogging is very therapeutic. It's a relief and a hobby. I love reading the comments people post in response to my blogs."

From Posh to Carrie
By: Upala KBRDate: 2008-11-24
Mumbai:
Inspired by Sex And The City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bebo goes from size zero to sexy for her role in Kambakht Ishq. PS: Lolo pushed for it!

Kareena Kapoor has ditched the (supposedly Victoria 'Posh' Beckham- inspired) size-zero look she had in Tashan and is to get curvy (inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw) for Kambakht Ishq.

Glam and chic yet simple

Talking about her new look, Bebo says, "My looks in KI will be something audiences haven't seen before. It's completely different from Tashan, Golmaal Returns and Jab We Met. I play a surgeon and a supermodel in Kambakht Ishq and my styling has been done keeping my character in mind. I always discuss my roles with Lolo (sister Karisma Kapoor) and when I asked her about Kambakht Ishq, she told me to get inspiration from Sarah Jessica's Parker's look in Sex And The City. Lolo loves watching the TV serial and Sarah's cool, chic, glamorous and yet simple styles."

Designer Aki Narula went shopping for Kareena's clothes in Paris and Milan. Kareena adds, "My character is based in Los Angeles. I have gone in for different hairstyles. My look is more voluptuous and sexy in Kambakht Ishq so I had to go on a different diet and exercise regime. My carbohydrate intake went up but my exercise routine was cut down. Though I was still doing yoga it was milder and from seven days a week, I now exercise only three days a week."

Simply healthy

Kareena adopts a healthier and sans make-up look for Rensil's film. She says, "As I leave for Karan Johar's film (directed by Rensil D'Silva) in Philadelphia, it's for the first time in one and a half years that I won't be carrying any diet or trainer with me.

Karan has strictly forbidden me to exercise or diet during an outdoor shoot. It's snowing there so I won't need to work out. I will burn calories in any case because of the freezing cold. Karan wants a healthy and chubby look from me as I play a Muslim girl. KJo wants me to look real so I won't be wearing any make-up in the film."

Kareena adds, "It's very important for an actor to keep changing his/her looks. It's a challenge to keep experimenting with your looks according to your role – as Aamir and Shah Rukh are doing. After my size-zero look in Tashan it's a sexier, more real and natural look that I am going in for now for Kambakht Ishq and Rensil's film."

Kareena joins her beau Saif Ali Khan in Philadelphia. She laughs and says, "This is our first film together where we are paired romantically opposite each other. In Tashan, I was with Akshay and in Omkara, I was with Ajay Devgan."

Playing favourites
Says Bebo, "I have told Saif that I will be giving him points while working with him for Karan's film and only after the schedule is over will I decide whether he has become my favorite co-star or not. I love the story as it's set against a different backdrop. My favorite co-star is Akshay Kumar as there's a great comfort level while working with him. Lolo and I are also very close to Akshay's wife Twinkle who is designing Saif's and my flat in Bandra."

My film is certainly not called ‘Jehad’: Rensil d’Silva

January 11th, 2009 - 10:50 am ICT by IANS -
Mumbai, Jan 11 (IANS) Saif Ali Khan’s films have a tendency to go nameless until the last minute. The latest is a Rensil d’Silva-directed terrorist thriller, which is produced by Karan Johar and has Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Viveik Oberoi and Om Puri in leading roles.

Nearing completion, the film has no title yet.

This week sections of the media were abuzz with reports that Rensil’s film has finally found a title “Jehad”.

Rensil is appalled by these reports. “Am I mad to call my anti-terrorism drama ‘Jehad’? What signal will it send out to the audience? Please don’t believe such rumours. ‘Jehad’ was a name suggested by Kareena and Saif. I am certainly not going by that title. Suddenly everyone thinks it’s called ‘Jehad’. Considering the current climate, that’s a really inappropriate title.”

So what is Rensil going to call his film?

“I’ve no clue. And I can’t put it to public vote because that would give away the title. But it’s certainly not ‘Jehad’.”

I certainly didnt feel jehad was inappropriate at all. It could just mean the perception that these young men are given when they embark on this wrong path of terrorism. Perhaps Saif's character utilizes the concept of Jehad to justify his actions, when its wrong. He could use the opposite approach to prove how this concept is miused rather than to put it aside entirely.
Saif and kareena's suggestion seems pretty good to me. The title would've grasped instant attention. God Rensil, I hope you know what you're doing.

Mumbai:

Saif and Kareena share sizzling lip-lock in upcoming film

Real-life couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will share intimate moments in their untitled film directed by Renzil D'Silva for Dharma Productions.

A source present at the sets reveals, "Last week, Saif and Bebo shot for their kiss in a Chembur studio. The kiss is part of a song.

The actress who has done kissing scenes on screen before (see box) was quite comfortable with the idea of lip-locking with her beau. She even was seen camly discussing the angle and the intensity with the director."

Lingering doubts

An insider reveals, "At one point it was discussed if the scene was necessary and it looked like the couple had their doubts about the screen smooch. Rensil looked unhappy and had a word with Saif.

The director convinced him to do the scene. Saif in turn made Bebo understand that it was necessary and she agreed."

They got the kiss right in about five takes.

I hate movies that tell about jehad and these stuff because they don't give the right image about muslims and jehad.
But what I heard about My Name is khan is accepted.
My name is Khan can change the image of muslims around the world with more respect and justice.
But the rest of movies are showing the wrong image of muslims and Islam.

Dont worry, they're not going by the name Jehaad :)
I'm sure they'll present a balanced view point of terrorism. Everyone agrees that terrorism is bad, and as long as they dont go by stereotypes too much, I'll be satisfied. I have a lotta hopes from t his one.

Saif is muslim so i think he doesn't want to give a negative image to his religion.
