Abhi dreams big with ‘Pa’

Abhishek Bachchan’s term of endearment for Big B will now be the name of a film, starring the father-son duo.

Apart from Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar 2’, superstar Amitabh and son Abhishek Bachchan are all set to star together in yet another movie. Balki, the maker of ‘Cheeni Kam’, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu, has already signed the father-son duo for his next film called what else, but ‘Pa’!

Abhishek calls his dad pa in real life too. Apparently, Big B was very impressed with Balki during the making of ‘Cheeni Kam’, which is the story of a younger woman falling for a much older man. The buzz is that RGV was inspired by Balki’s story; he made ‘Nishabd’ on the same topic and released it even before Balki could complete his film.

However, Balki’s new film ‘Pa’ will be a light comedy .The female lead has not been decided as yet. When contacted, Balki confirmed that he is indeed doing a film with the Bachchans. He said, “‘Pa’ is a comedy and both Amitabh and Abhishek loved the script when I narrated it to them. We have not worked out the dates as yet since the shoot will only begin after the release of ‘Cheeni Kam’ (scheduled to release on May 25th).”

Yes, I have. It’s called Pa. It will be a light-hearted story between a father and a son.

Who did you sign first — the father or the son?

There wasn’t any signing session as such. We discussed the script and decided to go ahead.

Did Abhishek come as a package deal?

Never. He was there on my mind all through the scripting.

Is there any scope for a heroine in this film?

There is, but I haven’t thought of anyone strictly.

Could it be the Bachchan bahu — Aishwarya Rai?

(Laughs) I am not following the flavour of the season. I will follow the script and decide accordingly. It could be anyone.

Vidya Balan may step into 'Pa' :D

'Cheeni Kum' might have been accepted by audiences with mixed reactions but its director R. Balki is all excited about his next movie 'Pa' with same producer Sunil Manchanda. 'Pa' is ready to go on the floors in due time and features Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. It is a very light comedy film portraying the relationship between a father and son.

Although Balki had thought of casting Aishwarya Rai in the film earlier, news has come in that Vidya Balan may step in the project instead of Rai.

'Pa' will have musical notes from Ilaiyaraaja, who is being appreciated for his work in 'Cheeni Kum'.

It's Abhi-Vidya, not Abhi-Ash!
Vidya Balan may replace the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai in `Pa' that also
stars Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. 'Pa' is to be directed
by ad filmmaker R Balakrishnan whose maiden feature film `Cheeni
Kum' is being appreciated all over.

Although Balki (as Balakrishnan is often referred) had thought of
casting Ash in the film earlier, news has come in that Vidya may
step in the project instead of the Bachchan daughter-in- law in the
role opposite Abhishek.

'Pa' will not only be produced by Sunil Manchanda, who
produced 'Cheeni Kum', but also have musical notes from Illayaraja,
who is being appreciated for his work in 'Cheeni Kum'.

'Pa' is a very light comedy film portraying the relationship between
a father and son.

Balki wrote the movie's script with both Bachchan and Abhishek in
mind. And when he narrated the story idea to the father-son duo,
they immediately agreed to do the movie.

'Pa' will also have Paresh Rawal in an important role and is ready

Ilayaraja's songs in Bollywood film Cheeni Kum have won him young fans all across the nation. The movie directed by Balki featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu has witnessed a phenomenal run.

Close on the heels of releasing Cheeni Kum, Balki has commenced works for his next film in Hindi.

Several Bollywood actors are showing keen interest to act in a Balki film. But he seems to be ready to make another film with Amitabh Bachchan. Balki's next film is about father-son relationship. It is titled Pa meaning father.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan do the father and son roles. They have already acted as father and son in Sarkar, KANK among other films.

Vidya and Abhishek in Balakrishnan's Pa

R. Balakrishnan, director of the wonderful Cheeni Kum is getting ready to start his next project titled, Pa. The cast of the film is all ready quite extraordinary with both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan signed on for two lead roles. Now a love interest for Abhishek has been cast, more or less, and the actress is Vidya Balan.

Balakrishan said, “We've already approached Vidya and she has more or less agreed. I can see her as a pair with Abhishek, can't you?” Adding, “Vidya suits the role.”

The story is about the relationship between a father and son, and though Abhishek will have Vidya to romance, Amitabh will be going it alone for this film. Though Vidya has been in films both with Amitabh and Abhishek, it will be the first time the Abhi-Vidya jodi will be seen.
