What’s new about your calendar this year?

This year I have one theme for all the pictures unlike every year. This is the first time I have broken the mould of having different themes for different actors.

The theme is ‘water’ and I chose it because I was confident that I will be able to play with the theme and yet give every picture a different theme. All the actors loved the theme and have done different things with it.

What difficulties did you face while shooting it?

The very fact that it was theme-based for the very first time was difficult. Getting 24 actors to shoot for the same theme wasn’t an easy task. But luckily everyone cooperated and it’s turned out well.

And who was your favourite amongst the 24 actors?

I don’t think I can zero it down to one person. All the actors are fantastic and that’s why they are there in my calendar. I’ve featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Arjun Rampal, Ayesha Takia, Riteish Deshmukh, etc.

Also Bobby Deol is in it after a long time.

How is your calendar going to be different from your earlier ones?

For the last three years my focus was on post production and the pictures that I shot had excessive digital imaging.

This time I’ve gone back to how I started out – in the pure photography form. I’ve taken more outdoor pictures in the natural sun.

Amitabh Bachchan is unveiling your calendar this time…

Yes, this time I am up for doing different things; never before have I had someone unveiling it. I decided that if someone was to do it, it’ll only be him. He’s a true legend in every sense of the word. He just stands apart from every actor I’ve worked with.

Do you think celebrity calendars have become a publicity gimmick for photographers?

This time, the trend has not moved into the new year. Not too many photographers are going to make calendars.

Last year it was a fad and it did seem that many would catch it, but it didn’t. It’s actually great to have a calendar because the shelf life of the picture lasts for one whole year. Otherwise it’s easy to forget the pictures.
